Qorikancha
Qorikancha
Coricancha, Koricancha, Qoricancha or Qorikancha was the most important temple of the Inca Empire. Originally called Intikancha or Intiwasi, it was dedicated to Inti, and is located in the ancient Inca capital of Cusco.
Most of the temple was destroyed after the 16th century war with the Spanish conquistadors, as settlers also dismantled it to build their own churches and residences. Much of its masonry was used as a base for the Santo Domingo Convent in the 17th century.
It was built after the 1650 earthquake destroyed the first Dominican convent.
