Maras and Moray
Maras and Moray
Moray contains unusual Inca ruins consisting of several circular terrace depressions, the largest of which is approximately 30 m (98 ft) deep. Like many other Inca sites, it also has an irrigation system; and Maras is a town near the city of Cusco in the Sacred Valley of southeastern Peru. It is known for the Minas de Sal de Maras, thousands of individual salt pools on a hillside, dating back to Inca times. To the west of the city is Moray, an Inca archaeological site on a high plateau that features a series of concentric terraces. The surrounding trails offer views of the Urubamba snow-capped mountain range.
